Skating memberships are good for free skating throughout the winter in any of Edmonton’s community skating rinks–not just Parkallen’s! And each membership comes with 20 free swim admissions at the Scona pool.
Choose whichever sign-up method suits you best or wait for our friendly canvasser to visit your home. Canvassers will begin making their way around Parkallen this month. If you want to learn to be a pro-star volunteer canvasser phone Jolie Whetzel at 430-0963. She is arranging for interested newcomers to go out on the “block” in teams with experienced canvassers. To The Judges
The Community League we would really like to thank Parkallen Elementary School Principal Vince Friesen and Green Circle Pre-school Teacher Mrs. Patty Holowaychuk. They were the judges for our first ever Snow Parade. They paid great attention to each parade participant and were very supportive and enthusiastic. Thank you for a great job.
To The Community Residents
To Vanessa and Charlie Phillips, Liz Mathew, and Liz Affolder for their exciting idea’s, talents, time and effort in helping me organize this event from it’s inception. To one of our local artist’s, Cathy McMillan for making the children so happy with her non-stop face painting session! To our youth, Ewan Phillips, Moira Wyton, Calen Pregizer, Salix Bell, and Elliot Brooks, you were all a tremendous help and a joy to volunteer with. For all the other volunteers and helpers, we of course couldn’t do it without you, so thank you.
Great events only happen with great participation from all our community members so once again, thank you for coming out and we hope everyone had a wonderful time.
Volunteers Needed
Snow Festival Helpers for next year – If you would like to forward your name and number to be on either the committee, or as a helper on the day of the event, please call or email and we will keep you on our list. Then if all works well, we will give you a ring next fall as we start organizing again in November.
Seniors Spring Tea – at the end of April or early May, we are considering having a spring tea and inviting all the seniors in the neighbourhood for some socializing, music and treats. If you are interested in serving at the event or if you are a musician in the neighbourhood and would like to offer you talents for an hour or so, please call or email and we will work on an exact date.

Parkallen Winter Festival 2008!
On February 24th 2008 the Parkallen Community League was holding a really fun winter festival. They had skating, snow sculpting, sleigh rides, and lots and lots of fun! There were also some great refreshments. Hot chocolate, lemonade, hot dogs and chips. Two kids were holding a fund raiser for their school trip and you could donate money to help them out.
People jumped, fell and got pushed off of the horse drawn sleigh. If you were lucky you could run and jump back on. There were some pretty crazy snow sculptors and the principle from the school even showed up and joined in some of the snow festivities. The day was fun and exciting.
Pre-registration is required. To find out locations and times of these or other Planning Academy classes, or to register, visit www.edmonton.ca/planningacademy, or call 496-6242.
